While it is true that there are various stain-resistant carpets these days, it is also true that there is no carpet that is entirely stain-proof. As for stains versus spots, there is a slight difference. A spot is a result of an accident that is very recent and can often be cleaned easily if it’s treated right away as it may have only formed a colour outside the carpet fibres. A stain, however, is more permanent than a spot; as soon as it seeps into the carpet fibres, the colour of the carpet can be forever changed.
Any coloured liquid is potentially a stain that may prove too difficult to get rid of. Seven stains are common among carpets and are relatively difficult to remove even with recommended carpet stain removal techniques; these stains are called the seven deadly carpet stains due to how tough it is to get them out.
These beverages are mortal enemies for carpets. If you can’t find bleach particularly made for them, or coffee remover, the stain may be there to stay.
This hardly ever comes out of your carpets when it spills. Such stain removal requires tough and thorough jobs with solvent and rinsing.
This is a nasty stain that easily attracts other dirt and generally messes up the carpet. However, it can be removed with a good enzyme and hot water extraction.
This beverage contains a green dye that is usually impossible to take out, it is a frustrating stain to get off. On rare occasions, dye removers may get them out.
Red Wine and coloured sodas have some food colour in them that rarely comes out with steam cleaning alone.
This is one tough stain to get out. Try as much as possible to keep that hot dog away from your carpet for its chance of removals is close to zero.
Pet urine contains strong acid that can bleach the carpet yellow if left for too long. It can only be removed with urine spotters or good cleaning products.
These stains are bad for carpets; therefore, keep your rugs, cushions, couches, sofas, and similar effects away from them.
Below are some stain removal tips to follow. They are outlined step-by-step below:
NEVER SCRUB or rub stains.
Most people generally do this as first reactions, especially when the stain is new and they are trying to take it out very fast before it goes into the fibre; but such process can cause permanent pile distortion on the carpet. Scrubbing does more harm than good. The first thing you should do is scoop up all the solids first.
BLOT OUT THE LIQUID
with any towelling material before it permeates into the fibres of the carpet. This means that you have to act as fast as you can.
Follow the cleaning instruction on your Stain Buster or Wee Buster packs. Do not just clean carelessly. Start by applying stain removal agents to clean clothing; do not apply the agents directly on the carpet lest you ruin everything by bleaching off the original colour of the carpet. To keep the stain from spreading to other surfaces of the carpet, attempt to work from the outside of the stain towards the middle, then use blotting or dabbing motion in taking out the stain.
RINSE WITH EITHER COLD OR LUKEWARM WATER.
Any water above room temperature may have some negative effects on the carpet.
the stain with a white paper towel. This process will turn it into a clean area by absorbing the stain. For such stains that have gone deep into the carpet fibres, dab a little bit more firmly but not too aggressively to prevent distorting the pile and allowing the stain to spread wider eventually. Continue blotting until the stain is entirely gone.
