While it is true that there are various stain-resistant carpets these days, it is also true that there is no carpet that is entirely stain-proof. As for stains versus spots, there is a slight difference. A spot is a result of an accident that is very recent and can often be cleaned easily if it’s treated right away as it may have only formed a colour outside the carpet fibres. A stain, however, is more permanent than a spot; as soon as it seeps into the carpet fibres, the colour of the carpet can be forever changed.
Below are some stain removal tips to follow. Just remember, always check you’re your carpet manufacturer’s guidelines and test on a small area before attempting any DIY carpet cleaning.
NEVER SCRUB or rub stains.
Most people generally do this as first reactions, especially when the stain is new and they are trying to take it out very fast before it goes into the fibre; but such process can cause permanent pile distortion on the carpet. Scrubbing does more harm than good. The first thing you should do is scoop up all the solids first.
BLOT OUT THE LIQUID
with any towelling material before it permeates into the fibres of the carpet. This means that you have to act as fast as you can.
CLEAN.
Follow the cleaning instruction on your Stain Buster or Wee Buster packs. Do not just clean carelessly. Start by applying stain removal agents to clean clothing; do not apply the agents directly on the carpet lest you ruin everything by bleaching off the original colour of the carpet. To keep the stain from spreading to other surfaces of the carpet, attempt to work from the outside of the stain towards the middle, then use blotting or dabbing motion in taking out the stain.
RINSE WITH EITHER COLD OR LUKEWARM WATER.
Any water above room temperature may have some negative effects on the carpet.
GENTLY BLOT
the stain with a white paper towel. This process will turn it into a clean area by absorbing the stain. For such stains that have gone deep into the carpet fibres, dab a little bit more firmly but not too aggressively to prevent distorting the pile and allowing the stain to spread wider eventually. Continue blotting until the stain is entirely gone.

If general advice treatment fails call your Drytron Technician immediately.
